Meditation Series...Invest in Yourself!

Diana Vandel has been actively exploring and practicing meditation for 40 years.   She has had a number of meditation teachers along the way.   Currently she studies with Jim Gordon of ILM. Yoga, meditation, the natural universe, life and career have all taught Diana ways of aligning Body, Mind, Emotions and Soul.

FORMAT: Each session has about 10 to 15 minutes of yoga and 45 minutes focused on learning about different types of meditation, meditating as a group and then talking about the meditation experience. The actual time spent meditating will be approximately 15 to 20 minutes. There will be 6 group sessions and 1 private session with Diana to create a personalized meditation CD and give one on one advice on how best to obtain desired results. The private session will be after participating in the 6 group sessions and scheduled based on the individual's schedule.

COST & MATERIALS: $236 for total series. The book The Meditation Bible by Madonna Gauding will be provided along with a meditation journal.

FUTURE sessions certainly can be scheduled for those who choose to have the ongoing support of meeting together in a group.

BENEFITS OF MEDITATION: Meditation can reduce stress and help us relax; but, it can also give us a lot more. Create balance, restore, rejuvenate and recover from life's demands. Create sanctuaries of calm. Detoxify your mind, body and emotions. Here are some more of the benefits that daily meditation can give us.

Deep Rest: as measured by decreased metabolic rate, lower heart rate, and reduced work load of the heart.

Detachment: maintain equanimity in the midst of life's inevitable turbulence. Reduce stress by teaching us to switch off from the worries that can plague us through the day. It soothes and calms; it allows you to have stillness and silence instead of reactive responses. Meditation is an opportunity to spend time by ourselves, without feeling at the beck and call of others. Spending 15 minutes in quietening the mind and focusing on the present moment, makes us more relaxed and effective decision makers.

Concentration: Through meditation we can bring our unruly mind under control. This creates peace of mind and enables us to achieve what we want to. In one pointed concentration there is great power; our energy and focus do not get dissipated. When we have concentration we can do more in less time with increased creativity. Through regular meditation we gradually improve our powers of concentration; this focus can be used for and all activities we engage in.

Health: Meditation can give us peace of mind, and this can be a helpful step in avoiding many stress related ailments. It increases serotonin production which influences mood and behavior. Low levels of serotonin are associated with depression, obesity, insomnia and headaches.

Discovering the Purpose of Life: If you aspire to know more about the nature of existence and life, then meditation can be of great help.   In meditation we gain a new perspective of life, uncolored by our own egoistic perspective.
